This lesson provides an overview of the drum rudiments and sheds light on why they are important. In many ways, the rudiments are to drummers what scales are to guitarists. "Slow Motion" Metric Modulation Grooves Drum Lesson

This drum lesson covers what I call "Slow Motion" and "Fast Forward" grooves. These concepts are inspired by something I've heard Marco Minnemann play numerous times in his videos and live performances. If you're a fan of Marco, you may recognize the ideas. In a nutshell, I discuss how to use polyrhythms on the drums to sound like you're playing in slow motion. This concept can also be used to ...

    Do you think moongel practice pad are not friendly for double stroke? As i saw some are saying the pad is a pain for push pull technique which it doesnt develop the skill yet it will harm our muscle Sorry about my english

    • @GeoffGattsDrums
      @GeoffGattsDrums 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for your question! I don’t think the moongel pad is inherently bad for double strokes or push pull finger technique, but it may require you to slightly change your technique or to work harder to bring the stick back up after striking the pad. However, this feels to me like the main purpose of a workout pad like this and I think that if you can get your doubles and push pull technique going on a pad with little to no rebound like this, then you’ll be flying on a real drum! And, if you introduce it to your practice routine a little at a time and warm up at slow tempos and gradually work your way to faster tempos, I don’t think you run the risk for injury. I hope this helps!

    As someone that’s into extreme metal drumming (blast beasts and the likes) I may need to pick this up. Playing with speed and accuracy is the biggest thing for me when learning how to play in this style and I feel like this will help me build on that strength. This pad is great for developing blast beats! That’s one of the things it has helped me with most. Now if only I could just get my feet up to get same speed as my hands 😂 Sorry to hear that you can’t play your set. I haven’t been able to play my set for a while either, so I’ve been trying to make the most out of a pad set up as well. It’s not the same, but it’s better than not playing at all. Best of luck my man!

    The rock beat at 3:00 its 4:4 but with the 8th notes the signature is 4:8 ?

    • @GeoffGattsDrums
      @GeoffGattsDrums 3 роки тому

      No, but good question. It's all still in 4:4. I was trying to say that when you see 8th notes you can count them by saying 1 "AND" 2 "AND" 3 "AND" 4 "AND." But, even though we're counting 8th notes, the rock beat is still in 4:4 time. In contrast, a 4:8 time signature would mean that you have only 4 total 8th notes in the measure. Technically, you could say that 4:4 is the same as 8:8 time, in which you would count to 8 and each of those counts would be an 8th note, but I don't think anyone really does that in practice. Hopefully that wasn't too thoroughly confusing :) Let me know what other questions I can try to help with!
